Pinch and LOREM’s A/V live performance was commissioned by Lunchmeat Festival and premiered at the National Gallery in Prague on September 27, 2024.

LAMIN FOFANA PRESENTS TRANSVERSALS / BLACK METAMORPHOSIS

Black Metamorphosis started as a musical composition inspired by Black Metamorphosis: New Natives in a New World, an unpublished manuscript by the Jamaican scholar, philosopher and writer Sylvia Wynter. In her work, Wynter proposes a radical reinvention of what it means to be human, beyond the constraints of our contemporary time, with all its political, economic and social inequalities, as well as beyond Western constructions of race and subjectivity. Heeding Wynter’s call, the Sierra Leonean artist Lamin Fofana’s work explores how an immersive sonic experience – beautiful, discomforting and melancholy, among other qualities – can provide relief and comfort during the complex process of coming to terms with one another. Commissioned to transform his musical composition into an installation for Vapor Buxeda Vell’s coal room, Fofana’s Black Metamorphosis is also eminently personal, a response to his lived experience as a Black African migrant in Europe and the United States, an experience of displacement and reinvention. The mixed media installation, Transversals / Black Metamorphosis, was commissioned by Manifesta 15 Barcelona Metropolitana.

STEFANIE EGEDY PRESENTS B.A.S. (BODIES AND SUBWOOFERS)

Stefanie Egedy investigates sound as a composer of conceptual pieces, commissioned works, and experimental electronic music. Focused on researching possibilities with low frequency sound, bodies, and subwoofers, her work stems from installations to live performances as sonic propositions.

LOREM PRESENTS DISRUST EVERYTHING

The multi channel A/V installation Distrust Everything invites us to use our imagination as a way to escape from the realism that hampers our language and experience, using a multichannel installation which explores the relationship between human unconscious and the algorithmic one. The project is based on the data obtained by artist and researcher Mirek Hardiker, who spent 21 years compiling transcriptions of dreams. Now these data feed the neural networks which shape the narrative of this aesthetic production, as intense as disturbing.

LOREM PRESENTS TIME COILS

LOREM’s upcoming touring plans include a new audio visual live performance accompanying the release of ‚Time Coils‘ – a stunningly complex Album which further solidifies the research-driven practice integral to LOREM’s development as an identity. LOREM is primarily known for their pioneering work with machine learning and subsequent narrative-focused live shows. Returning to their roots while simultaneously spanning new terrain, the release of their latest venture, ‚Time Coils‘ communicates a deeper sonic exploration into their digital archives.
